2024/25 James Garner

Supposedly one of his biggest attributes at Forest were his set pieces…

Can't remember what game it was, but do you remember the game he took a corner (it was last minute or injury time) and hits the first man, came back to him and he crosses it and hits the first man again and the opposition counter attack and score.

For some reason I've got it in my head that it was Brighton this season (night have even been disallowed for offside) or West Ham last season

But the passage of play was just absolutely dreadful to get a cross so wrong twice in the space of 30 seconds.

He has limitations but I’d say he’s better than Mangala, who supposedly has a valuation of 30 million pounds.

How much do you think he’d fetch in the transfer market? What type of club would be interested, and would he move there?

I’m more than okay with extending his contract, which ends in just a year’s time. But I’d also be okay with selling him for 20 million and brining in Josh Brownhill on a free!

Yeah that's very confusing tbh. Was slotting free kicks in for fun at Forest. 8 goals and 10 assists in 69 games, versus 2 goals and 4 assists in 80 games for Everton. Actually his stats in terms of goals / assists per game at Everton is the worst in his career by far - bar a brief loan spell at Watford when he was 20. I personally see him as a slightly better and less annoying version of Tom Davies.
It's not that confusing really. His stats are better playing at a lower level, the same would be true of the vast majority of players.

Is he better than Mangala? The only thing he does better is have two working legs currently (which is important to be fair...)

Agree with the Garner sentiment though. If he stays, fine, if he goes, also fine.

I think he stays because hes such a good utility mate, Moyes loves a lad who can play two or three positions and we have heavy so much lifting to do this summer, i dont think he will be shedding a utility player.

About how I see it. We score like a relegation side, and concede like a top six one. Most draws in the league.

Attacking quality costs, and we have to fix it, so we're likely keeping utility players who cover multiple positions unless someone tenders a crazy offer.

£20mil+ and he has 1 year on his contract + we hold an option for a 2nd.

Expect being an all rounder that his deal is extended. My hope was that Armstrong continues his rapid rise and both compete for a place in 12months time.

Maybe dyche drained the enthusiasm out of him .

People dragged mangala for his pace but I thought he was superb, usually composed. I like Garner as well but he needs to be more consistent on his set pieces and distinguish himself in games , otherwise he just does the fundamentals decent but doesn't impose himself on the game enough

It was versus Hammers at Goodison last season.
