I'm not sure he'd "sort us out" but he'd be a good addition to the squad, provided he stayed fit

Should have binned him in the summer. As it is, he is an injury-riddled, less able version of Idrissa Gana Gueye and we simply don't need him. He is below Gana and Davies (and Schneiderlin and Klaassen, due to the fees paid for them) in the pecking order... in fact I like Besic better than McCarthy.

Part of the reason we bought a number of CMs in the last 12 months was that McCarthy has an appalling injury record - now we have the cover, he must be sold.

When has he done well?

Go on then Arsenal and for 45 minutes v Liverpool last yr. or something like that.

I said at the time he's a better player with out the ball, decent against good sides who dominate possession. Offers nothing when we have more of the ball. You need much better than that to challenge the top 6.

There are a 100's of players that do what McCarthy does.

For record I don't think schneiderlin & gana as a pair are good enough either

My god the state of people thinking he’d come in and sort us out. He can’t play up front. He can’t play centre half. He can’t create. He is not the answer to our problems.

Absolutely no one was advocating him playing for Everton last season. No one.

It appears to be the opposite tbh. He's injured, people forget how average he is, he comes back and does absolutely nothing for 3-4 games, repeat.
