I think an important point is that Seamus has been flagging a bit this season he doesnt have thenatural instict to come inside or even that of an attacker, he cant be falted for desire, effort or energy, but he has looked jaded this season and having one of those second season thingys.

I think Mcfad gives us that natural option of a wing forward who can come inside when needed in the system, as can Roy of the Lowlands tbf. True Jimmy Mc wouldnt have been as preferable as say an Nzogbia but he will allow us to have shape and at least players who fit the system naturaly.

McFadden closer to getting a start

Moyes told the Liverpool Echo: "It has been a bit hard to gauge his form, because until we see him in a full game we won't really know. His style has changed, I think, from when he was last here.

"He is more mature in his play, more thoughtful, there is a little less of the 'Roy of the Rovers' about him now. He keeps the ball better and is more concise in his passing and general play.

"Faddy came back and we got him a couple of half reserve games and bits and pieces, but then he did his hamstring. He is back now, he has been back about a week and a half.

"I reintroduced him on the bench against Swansea, but I'm not quite sure where he is in terms of his overall fitness. Because of his knee, we are not being allowed to really train him all the time.

"But he is now getting towards an overall level where he is looking to get a start, or at least getting nearer to the team."

May the fume be with you.
Actually, I think that by the end of the season, we might think this was quite a canny signing.

[Poor language removed] RIGHT OFF.

IF MCFADDEN STARTS I'M GONNA GO ON A CHILD KICKING SPREE.

If he gets more game time than Barkley between now and the end of the season I will fume my tits off

With Drenthe, Gueye, Coleman, Donovan and Barkley why should McFadden even be anywhere near the bench?

Can you all not read?!

Moyes said he's not all 'Roy Of The Rovers' anymore and plays concise passes.

So he's gone boring. Great. Right up Moyes' street.

He'll start against Tamworth.

Agreed.
But, I think he can do a job for us. I'd like to see him up front with Vellios, and honestly, I'm not just popcorning.

He's a better forward than Coleman mate.
I agree Drenthe, Donovan and Barkley should be in front of him, not sure about Gueye v. McFadden tbh - I'm reserving judgement on him till he's had some game time on the pitch - which plainly Moyes is going to give him.

People touted this transfer as nothing more than us "bulking up the numbers", "adding squad depth" etc etc.

I said that's fine, so long as it didn't impede the chances of our more promising youngsters, who should really be the future of the club. Something which James McFadden could only be if we get relegated.

Lo and behold he's ahead of Barkley in the pecking order and he isn't even fully fit.

I've got nothing against McFadden personally but there was a reason second tier Birmingham let him go, even with Europa league footie to play. If I was Barkley or Gueye, seeing myself remain on the bench or worse, in the stands, as McFadden takes to the field then I'd be furious.

HEY LAD MOYES IZ DOING DA BEST HE CAN ITZ KUNTWRONG INNIT NO MONEY AND STUFF ND WEVE SOLD LIKE 50 PLAYRS SO HEEZ DOIN DA BEST HE CANN. IWTM.

I'm on the fence leaning towards Pro-Moyes at the moment, but if this happens I'm joining the Moyes out brigade and starting a full on witch hunt with pitchforks and all sorts.

You think Moyes is trying to get himself sacked?

Bill will never fire him, so he's gotta do it himself.

He might be seeing how far he can push everyone or hes a master popcorner

I think he will throw Landon in at right back against Bolton come on here and enjoy his work
