I saw James's reply to this was shared a few pages back - but seriously, read this thread.

People talk like he did nothing since 2014 until he showed up at Everton. He was named best midfielder in both La Liga and Bundesliga...but the statistical analysis of his productivity in La Liga as presented here, even under Zidane is remarkable. He simply did not get on with ZZ.

Everton got a ridiculous deal here.

I said last week, we robbed Florentino Perez with this one.

I suppose they had to get rid of wages, due to possible recession coming up, perhaps there are other players out there for the taking.

Zidane seems a bit like Koeman on his ability to just be downright weird with certain players.

Be interesting to see if he gets overlooked for Premier League player of the month - suspect it will probably go to Vardy or something. Would provide ammo against all the doubters if he were to rightfully receive it though.
If thats the case DCL should be up for it because he has done exactly what vardy has done in terms of goal return

That first goal on Saturday doesn’t happen last season. Whichever midfielder that would’ve been playing in his place just plays the safe pass backwards or sideways rather than slipping it through first time to Coleman. That includes our £45m playmaker too by the way.

A little harsh on Siggy, dont get me wrong, he was rancid last season but also had rancid players next to him. So far this season, he's looked brighter and he's definately been looking for those killer passes more. (His one for Richarlion's disallowed goal being an example).

I know it's popular to hate on iceland, and i've been a part of that club (im not out of it, he needs to do better), but how many opportunities did he have last season to look for a killer pass? Having a functioning midfield will help him have more space to do something with it. Don't forget Iceland has been playing deeper since CA joined as well where as James is higher up, since the new season when iceland comes on he seems to be a little higher up now.

He had the same strikers making the same runs next to him last season. Richarlison’s disallowed goal was from a cross, I’m talking about eye of the needle through balls like James’ to Coleman at the weekend. We don’t see that from any of our other players including Sigurdsson.

We’ve heard for years about Gylfi “he scored xgoals this season, what more do people want from an attacking mid?”

THAT’S what people want.

Go watch the goal again mate, it was a perfect ball, not just a cross that was put in for chance of someone to attack. He saw the movemnet and is more than capable of playing those passes. Does he do it enough? No. Has he had the same opportunities to do it with a midfield behind him that have actual feet, no.

Dont get me wrong, Siggy has to do better, for someone who does have good technique he should be doing more. I get what you are saying, and I'm not saying Siggy has been providing James like content, but how many times did we actually get in the position to produce that last season and how many times did Siggy play as high up as James has under CA? Not much. I think it helps as well that DCL and Richy both seem to be really on top of their game at the moment as well, really clicking a lot better.

As I say, I'm not saying Siggy has been good or average, just that we generally stunk as a team for the most part last season, and rarely had those opportunities.James is a wonderful footballer but is helped by the fact he has 2 in midfield in Allan and Doucs who will do the dirty work and let him roam. I dont think Siggy had that afforded to him (not that he would produce James' content)

So yeah, dont take it as a defence of Siggy but more of a perspective of the context! The most annoying thing about Iceland is he has ability, he can strike a pass a ball but has struggled to perform.

He does seem similar to Mourinho. Very hard to get back in his good books once he makes his mind up about a player. We have done very well when dealing with Spanish clubs (Sandro aside).

DCL is a striker not a manager mate. Keeps going the way he is he will be in Carlos good books forever

I'm a new fan of Everton (yes, I'm Colombian). I'm hoping that this player, Siggy, elevates his game because I imagine Everton got him for a reason. Still, from all the games I've seen, he doesn't inspire confidence. His passes are always backward and, with the exception of that one pass to Richalison, I've not seen him make penetrating passes. I do think that a player like him needs confidence and I wouldn't give up on him just yet. Given his cost, the new players on the team, the optimism of the fans, I think he is playing not to make a mistake, i.e., very hesitant. As the team keeps playing offensive football, the hope is that he will join the rhythm and play fearlessly. Once this happens, Everton will gain yet another weapon.

Thing with Ciggy is that he needs lots of time on the ball to i) turn; and ii) suss out who is who. Much better suited to coming off the bench on 60 mins imho when there is space and time on the ball. He's dreadful first 60 mins of a prem game when put under pressure. I quite like him as an impact off the bench, slow the game down and add some control in the midfield.

Better not discuss what he is like off the ball, abso woeful. Allergic to physical contact.

All of the above complete anathema to King James of Rodriguez. Spacial awareness, plays on the half turn and, important for us Evertonians, loves a sliding tackle. Come on!
