I got a bit teary eyed watching that. Must be getting soft, but watching this wonderful footballer play for my beloved Blues is the epitome of what Pele once called the beautiful game.

They say great players always seem to have more time and he's the perfect example of that, but even when he looks like he's getting closed down he stays calm, doesn't rush and nearly always finds a way out or a telling pass. His passing is sublime. Has he misplaced any passes yet? His passing isn't just accurate though. He makes passes that only truly world class players can see. His vision and speed of thought are razor sharp. When I watch him play I find myself saying, "Oooh" or just chuckling to myself a lot, which makes a change from shouting, "What the hell was that?" when watching Everton.

I said earlier in this thread, James is not just a world class footballer, he's an elite footballer and Zidane is a fool for letting him go. I think he's going to be a legend for us.

the west ham players see it's him on the ball, and they hesitate. It's amazing to watch, like he's got a forcefield around him, which I suppose he has.

Zidane just did not like James for some reason. For years I heard that Real just don't use a 10, but thia season Odengaard and Isco keep playing at the 10 position. Pretty much started using 10s the moment he left.

He’s one hell of a smart player.

He’s always been world class. Everyone knew it. Not just world class but genuinely one of the best players in the world in that class just behind Messi and Ronaldo. The media just spam a ridiculous sorry of him being washed up and past it because it was Everton getting him but the truth eh is undeniable, he is legitimately miles ahead of the majority of players in the prem. He’s killing teams at walking pace.

For those worried about teams getting physical with him

He played in Argentina at 17. Then he played in the French league which to me is a bloodbath of kicking and fouling. Also has played in Conmebol for Colombia for a decade. I think he'll be fine.

This is where the English media go far too overboard about premier league players. Dele Alli has never been world class, Maddison isn’t , Grealish isn’t, Foden isn’t, none off then perhaps except Foden ever will be. All these attacking midfielders that the media claim will be world class are a million miles off the level Rodriguez is at.

I totally agree Zidane was a fool no only by letting James go but by no using him and relegating him to the bench his last year at Madrid. Such a waste of talent. But now he is a Toffee and he is flourishing with this historic club.

I totally agree. I think his great looks make people think he is somewhat the fragile type but playing against Conmebol teams can get very physical. Moreover, James can be very fiery and won't let other players bully him.

I think he’s tougher than he looks and from the West Brom game can be a bit (positively) snide.
La Liga is full of defenders experts at fouling,
No concerns as long as the team are backing each other up if he is targeted.
