Absolutely positively the best player I’ve ever seen in a Blue, Yellow and Green shirt.

For me, Alan Ball is the best player I have seen in Royal Blue, not just for ability, although he was a very gifted ball player, he was also a battler, a grafter, a goal scorer and a thorough winner. He was not, however, the most skillful player I have seen, that was a certain Mr. Alex Young, for pure skill and artistry the vision was the best I have seen here.

I think that opinion I have held about the GV for the best part of the past 60 years is about to be challenged by James.

I would have to say though as all round players neither of them come close to Bally.

Obviously had seen him play before, obviously knew the reputation and the hype, genuinely had no idea how amazing James really is until I’ve seen him in a Blue shirt.

Please God I get to watch this man play at Goodison Park.

Exactly this. Knew he was very good, but didn't appreciate how bloody good - so gifted, just a joy to watch him play and watch him improve those around him.

I mean, that is completely outrageous. I loved Pienaar but that's his average seasonal output in 5 games and he had Yakubu up front.

He's the greatest player to have ever played for us and he's here in his prime.

Think he's just easing himself back after not playing so much with Zidane.
