I mean.. there is an argument to move him behind DCL and utilise him in that 'free' role as part of a 4-2-3-1. For the sake of drawing a comparison, the reds did that the other night against City with Jota turning their usual front 3 into a 4. This would completely free him of any need to track back to cover the RB because instead that job would fall to the player on the right of the front 4.
The caveat here, of course, is that we'd need a player for the right-hand side of a similar profile and quality to Richarlison. Whether this is in Ancelotti & Brands' plan or not is another question, but either way if we plan on sticking with James on the right then we really need to figure out a better, more consistent way of nullifying attacks down our right as that's been one of our main weaknesses for a handful of games now..
As much quality as he has, in games where he's being specifically targeted then he needs some more support/legs around him.
