Positive is he'll be back tucked up in bed this time tomorrow. Him and Mina will be on a flight back tomorrow our time, maybe even in the early hours (it's only 6pm in Ecuador right now).

Rested up on Thursday and back in training on Friday and light session Saturday, down to Fulham later that day.

An extra day in these instances can make all the difference.
He struggled to play once a week for us.. picked up that knock against RS and didnt train in between. Now has played two full 90mins in 4 days and expected to be fit for us in just over 4 days after flying back.
Id say its 50/50 at best he's in any shape to play full match for us come Sunday

Good thing is, from an Everton point of view, both Colombia games were over pretty early and even though he played 90 each, they were not competitive.

No Colombian player really exerted much energy

They were playing in Quito like.

Big thing in South American football (champions league mostly) where teams go to the likes of Colombia and more specifically Bolivia and struggle due to higher altitudes. Seen top south american sides go to Bolivar and lose 4/5/6-0 cause they are just knackered from the lack of oxygen (or less than what their bodies are used to). In 2014 Bolivar (team from Bolivia) made it to the semi finals of their Champ league. Even tho Bolivia would be one of hte lesser quality countries.

Their home form in these competitinos are pretty damn good generally.

I can't imagine many of the colombia squad still play locally? So therefore imagine James going from Liverpool altitude of almost nothing to the 3000m altitude of Quito. Would be the same for most of the colombia squad I'd imagine

I remember I went on a biking day trip from Quito to Mount Cotopaxi, and we were up at 4000m, and I couldn't even peddle the bike while we were getting ready in the carpark.

If Colombia wants to play a pressing game, its probably not a good idea at that altitude. :D

Yes they are tough at home. They use a lot of local based players and they use a lot of athletes. Fast and strong

But Colombia usually manages to get results there. What we are seeing from Colombia is a complete mismanagement from our coach and also lack of commitment by the players to the style the coach wants. It's just a mess. If he is not fired, bye bye Qatar

Article in The Athletic slating him.
Just had a look at that - basically saying his off the ball movement (or lack of) is responsible for 4 of the recent goals we've conceded.

You don't sign a player like that and expect him to graft like the rest of the team, there needs to be a tactical choice for someone to cover him. Not make him run around all game instead

James is not excused from working and he deserves criticism for matches where he gives no effort. We don't expect him to be Richarlison. He is special in that regard. Omly few attackers in the world press and run like him. But he could do what he did early on the year and at least track back and help cover which he did before the Liverpool game.

Having said that, blaming an attacker for all 4 goals conceded seems a bit of a witchhunt. He played his part I'm sure, but we have a RB, 2 cbs, a keeper, a dm, a lb to come help defend the crosses, and a box to box midfielder all involved and with more defensive responsibilities than James....yet the article places the blame squarely and solely on James.

He needs to do better. He has been poor I'm the matches after the derby on both sides of the field. He is better than that.

But also media is gonna media. He is our brand new toy so let's tear him down because Everton can't possibly have nice things
