It's been obvious for ages that he's been deciding whether he plays or not. It's mad that people have been talking about attitude and mentality and just ignored the fact that you're always going to have that issue if you have certain players who can do what they want and aren't subject to the same rules as everyone else. He's an absolutely phenomenal player but if some players don't buy into the team ethic the whole thing will fall apart.

I get that SA players have a very strong connection with playing for their national teams.

But Everton pay his not unsubstantial salary, (and will do so when he is playing in the Copa in the Summer).
