aye it's alright, Greg who was saying last year it was £120k a week and writing article after article about how good James is, got told by his bossmen at the club to actually tell everyone James is evil and earns the world.

Anyway, if he's going he's going. Why we are letting a player go when we can't get anyone in, when we're already short in that area, and fans and journalists lap it up. Well, that's beyond me. But whatever, we get what we deserve, which is f all.

AT LEAST THEY RUN THOUGH

The best players in the world can run and play football. It's not an either/or, mutually exclusive thing. I've never seen Kevin de Bruyne walk round a football pitch.

There's only one player who can do that and still be effective, and that's because they are Lionel Messi.

And there it is. But fans can't see how it's just innocent Everton who never do any wrong. It's all James' fault.

I hope he comes out and says it for what it really is.

Wonder if Everton will go back and delete all those posts they did of James while they wanted him to be posterboy for us out in the US?

That literally starts off with a factual inaccuracy - it says we paid £20m for him. So we are expected to ignore that bit but believe the rest?

In any case, to give you the benefit of the doubt here, "wages" are a pretty big catch-all term for what someone earns. I've no doubt that James's cost to Everton is up there with the £200k per week figures being quoted, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's all basic wages - part of it will probably be a generous signing bonus which is spread over the length of his contract, as we did with Bernard. The £20m fee that was thrown about in the early days might well simply be the cost of the deal to us over the length of James's contract - we know that none of that went to Madrid in the form of a transfer fee.

James ran plenty. He played in some of our best defensive performances last season and had quality on to go with it.

Could he do it to the intensity Benitez wants? Almost certainly not.

Should we be so desperate to punt a player when we can't strengthen our squad? Absolutely not.

We’ve replaced James Rodriguez with Andros Townsend.

That’s never ok, and the acceptance of it by the fan base solidifies my point
If Andros Townsend is a direct replacement for Rodriguez then Townsend would be sat on his arse Twitching and playing X Box. Difference is Townsend want to play for us, Rodriguez doesn't - simple really

I knew you'd take this badly.

You've tried to make a case for James's inclusion, but he excused himself.

You must surely accept that now and move on and get behind this manager and the team?

I'm behind the team and the manager regardless of James being here or not.

I am not behind the club and how it is run. And that's where my anger is directed.

Part of how the club is badly run is giving every manager free reign to do what they want.

Yeah and we were stupid enough to appoint Benitez as manager, so that's where we are. I am never going to think it's sensible to keep players who a manager clearly will not use. Especially when the player doesn't want to play for the manager either.

There are some things that will never work out in football and Benitez and James Rodriguez is one of them.

If that was the case then we may as well sell everyone.

Any single one of them would be off at the drop of a hat if a "bigger" club showed interest. Like the large majority of football clubs really.
Once again a comment without any basis. How do you know that"any single one of them would be off at the drop of a hat if a "bigger"club showed interest." I am amazed at the assumptions people without any inside knowledge of what goes on behind the scenes at Everton Football Club decide to be absolute fact

It was always open Tim, the fans no matter how bad we were always appreciated and admired skilful, technically gifted players

Now they’re rather see PL journeymen running. The tide has changed, it’s closed when the fans don’t know what we once were
I agree
We love these players like you say

but

we hate lazy work shy players
and Rodriguez and a few others sit in that space
Townsend as an example will be afforded time and appreciation from the fans, as he works hard for the team

It's just too convenient that a lot of sources last year were saying £100k a week , and then as soon as Everton really needed rid, it became £200k a week.

So you're probably looking at somewhere in between actually being the case.
