Regardless of what happens, the way the club have dealt with this since Ancelotti left has been awful. We've had absolutely zero clarity and have had to rely on bizarre excuses from Benitez as to why he isn't in the team for the nth game running.

If he’s actually going to UAE then to me he doesn’t have the right attitude and hunger for the premier league.
Yes he can make lots more money on top of the riches already accrued playing for top European clubs but surely he would rather wait until the January window and back himself to get a move to somewhere more competitive, even if it meant cutting the weekly wage. I have no doubt he could pick up a 3-5mil a year contract in a top league and we’d waive the transfer fee to get him gone but if he doesn’t fancy it then I’d have to say I think Benitez is right on this one as much as I loved watching James last season.

career is at the very end - good riddance
Don’t the James supporters club wonder why no top club wanted the waste of space?
He’s ended up a no mark league - WHY?
Even the media couldn't link him with anyone apart from Newcastle in the summer, and i doubt they would want him either.

I don’t like Rafael but we can’t blame him to James going. He only joined because of Ancelotti and wanted out from the minute he left for Madrid. He picked games last season and couldn’t even be arsed for the final game vs Man City.

He has obvious talent, but the £200k a week, attitude and even style aren’t a fit

The evidence suggests we would have been more than happy to let him go regardless of the Diaz move. We wanted his wages off the books, not getting Diaz wouldn't have changed that.

Yep but we were still offering to pay Porto a chunk of his wages which is just mad. I imagine though we did at least have a cap on that. Like we might have contributed to his wage if Diaz was going to be sold to us. That's probably a likely way of negotiating. So when they refused that, it was then down to JR taking a pay cut or not.

The Turkey one was more than interest from Istanbul. We were willing to just loan him out and pay half of his salary (which is mad, mate, like absolutely insane, when we're so short).

The one plus side of Qatar is, hopefully, for us, it means they're paying all of his wage. We won't get a fee but we're that desperate we won't be thinking about that.

Fine, but he's not going to be a key player, the manager doesn't like him and he doesn't like the manager, and Everton have spent all summer trying to find any possible avenue for him to leave.

Nobody involved comes out of this with any dignity. It's a mess all of the club's making and James has hardly helped either.

Couldn't be arsed? Our own medical team said he was injured and told the Columbian national team he wasn't going to be ready for their first games.

Hopefully he has a new club by the end of the week, if so BIG questions need to be asked about Brands, sounds like Rafael is capable of getting his wages off the books but Marcel couldn't, if so whats the point of having a DOF at the club, he is no longer needed.
A DoF can't force a player out the door. A manager can't force a player out the door.

A manager can help make a players mind up to leave by not selecting him.
