That's the thing, he hasn't been and won't be replaced for another 3 months. Townsend and Gray were needed as we were short last season width and got Walcott and Bolasie off the books. But we haven't replaced James, nor have we replaced Gylfi.

We are massively short all over the pitch. We can't field a balanced side and we have literally no depth/cover to change things up when required.

Listen, I like him as a player. And I understand that it seems Benitez has come in and shunned him.

But he’s taking the piss now. From not knowing who we play at the weekend to going off “injured” when we’re having a bad day, he doesn’t care about the club. Which is fine. I’m sure many current and ex players don’t. But eh - get him gone now.

It doesn't make much sense though that he doesn't care etc yet is seemingly willing to move to some footballing backwater to get game time to get his national team place back.

Total guesswork here (as if everybody's thoughts on him) but it says to me the manager just doesn't want him (which is fine, it's his call) so he is having to look elsewhere. It's what makes most sense.
