We can't just put it off longer, or keep saying it's not good enough. It isn't good enough, but we can only fix the future. It's just a very sad state of affairs Tim.

We would have better financial circumstances if we did better on the pitch. If we won a cup or got into Europe. Good players help that.

Our manager, and this isn't on him, is going to have to choose between playing an unfit Rondon or a frankly out of his depth Gordon up top tonight. And we're four games into the season.

figures better some minutes in Qatar and make the wc in Qatar than waste a year sitting around

then take it from there

makes sense though he should have taken a pay cut and gone to Porto or milan

You’re taking last year as non mistakes and this year as mistakes . I think Pickford averaged 3 saves a game last year and it’s similar this , keep in mind he missed our hiding at the weekend . Doesn’t feel massively different.

I Hope it finishes a lot differently but You seem desperate to make everything current manager positive .

And that's because 3 of our 4 senior strikers are injured and the other isn't fit. I'm more concerned about our injury record in recent years than anything. Take 3 injured strikers and every team in this country, bar United, will be struggling.

James can't play as a striker either, let's be honest. It's not like the choice would be James or Rondon as a 9.

We need to find out why hardly any of our players can stay fit. The only player who didn't have a significant injury last year was Godfrey, and now he's struggling with illness this season. I want to know what's going on.

Southampton, James played crocked, should never have played, and they taregtted Godfrey. After that, we played 4-3-3 on one more occasion and that was the home game v Man Utd.

You said that the reason CA went to flat four of CBs was because of James. It wasn't. James wasn't even in the side as he was injured. Coleman and Digne were out too and so we had to use all four CBs.

The goals we conceded in the first 5 games of last season were as follows
- West Brom (1 x fk, 1 x Allan giving possession away and Mina not closing down - nothing to do with the system)
- Palace (1 x set-piece)
- Brighton (1 x Pickford cock up, 1 x Bissouma stunner after James had gone off)
- Liverpool (1 x Mane/Robertson attacking Coleman (the first example of a team actually exposing James, who provided an assist and a key pass for the 2nd goal in that game btw, and then 1 x defensive mistake from Mina clearing straight to Salah)

So of those seven goals there, literally one came as a result of 'the system/James'. So just as many as have come from our system, whatever that system is, so far this season.

Far too much reaching there mate you can explain away pretty much any goal lol

There are two types of goals - forced and unforced. You can legislate conceeding from set pieces and players targetting your weak players but you cant from Keane doing what he did from Southampton or Digne scoring an OG from a routine corner.

We've been crap for as much as we've been decent in games this season.

It's early days so I'm not judging, it's going to take time. But nobody is helped by binning off good players (whether they want to be here 100% or not) while you're already down to bare bones and can't replace them for at least 3 months, and even then we'd have to rely on our hopeless DoF to actually realise the January window exists.

Are you counting Tosun in that? A player who the club don't want, doesn't want to be here and is on a huge wage? Sounds familiar... (is he even in the PL squad, btw?)

I know it wouldn't be a choice between James and Rondon at striker. It just shows the complete lack of options we have. It's the same across the pitch.

On that second part, well it's on the medical team, and always has been. They're crap and need ripping up.

I loved those 10 mins against Burnley but first half was really poor , we certainly didn’t pull any trees up against Southampton. I’m happy to win that’s where I am but the interpretation that we’re playing like a peak side is frankly odd , we aren’t . Keep winning I don’t care but people are kidding themselves.
