James is incredibly quick to pick and play a precision through ball though.
What part of his control and pass for Richarlison’s goal at Anfield was slow or passive? His driving run and then first time finish on the rebound for his goal against Leicester? Getting in the box and first time finish against Palace? Constantly switching the play with his first or second touch to Digne and Richarlison first few games of the season?

What changed is Everton became slow and passive. We stopped attacking freely like we did at the start of the season (often because of injuries or suspensions to Digne, Richarlison, Doucoure and Allan) so every time James looked up he had the likes of Sigurdsson, Gomes and Iwobi standing still and DCL marked by two defenders.

This. A year ago today, this message board was full of gleeful posts about how James had dominated the opening game with Spurs (sombreros included) while barely breaking a sweat. That wasn't all possession football - in fact, he's most dangerous when he can create vertigo by changing field on a counter, sending the through ball or receiving near the box.

He’s a luxury player. An extremely gifted player, but still, a luxury.

We can have one passenger in the team. Last year we had him, slomes & he who must not be named for legal reasons. That’s two passengers too many.

I want him to play at home with a crowd and see if the noise changes his mind.
Gomes that’s make 3.

Super post this.

Every point made ( & more ) should be considered before any decision is made to shunt him out the club.
Selective memory's some have on here.

Unfortunately any decision made to get rid of James will be primarily a financial one; because he was signed on a free (and he's on mega wages), getting any decent fee for him would allow us to invest a great deal more than what we get for him. I'd hate to see him go but you do have to balance that against potentially being able to spend 30/40m elsewhere in the squad

I think there are a number of reasons why his face doesn't fit but finance certainly is one of the main ones.

I would like to see James play in a Benitez team. It would be interesting to see what he could contribute but would he happy to sit on a bench if he was not starting every time he was available ?

I do believe also that when CA left the club that James immediately began to consider his future and maybe he did so even before then.

I don't really take any notice of what players/managers/agents say as they are all spinning a story to paint their side in the best light. I think both sides would like James to leave the club but both sides do not want to be seen as the one who forced the move.

I think that James would find it difficult to stay at Everton when he is not one of the main players in the squad. This is very understandable for a player who has been regarded as world class up to a couple of seasons ago.

Finance is one of the reasons why Everton would like him to leave but it may be finance which will prevent him leaving as he struggles to find a club to match his demands. From what I have seen and read it is AC Milan or nowhere but I may be wrong about that.

If James stays this season with Townsend on the squad we can look after him properly. Use him in the games where he will be an asset rest him when he's tired. Imagine having the option of bringing him on to change a game or telling him give us an hour then we can change it up by bringing Townsend pace on. If he goes he'll need replaced however if he doesn't want to be here I think we should let him go but it should be on our terms.

I think against the likes of city Chelsea and the RS he cud be rested and brought in the second half as we won't have loads of the ball so need everyone to dig in. Against the likes of Burnley when we have all the ball he is the only one who can unlock a defence with one pass.

Whatever happens it needs to be sorted ASAP
