If the general consensus is that the squad is good enough with the exception of Robles, Barry and McGeady then why do we need to recruit several new players as opposed to one, say a goalie? The more players we get in only leads to the problem of trying to get them to gel in a short time frame.

We certainly don't need a overhaul or anymore average squad fillers. At this point any transfers we do, need to be quality additions who can add to the first 11.

Couple of quality signings now would also give a lift to both players and fans.

I'd be looking at GK, CB And RW.

i think the best we can do is not sign anyone and give hibbert and osman a 5 year extension because we need to stick to our roots and show faith in the more experienced players who will be able to dig deep and help us avoid relegation.

You are absolutely dreaming, on both counts.

McCarthy is a very good player but he's nowhere near that value.

As for Barkley, the 'big' teams spend over 25 on PROVEN ability, not potential. They need players who can play in CL semi finals/finals right away and not look out of place. Barkley may well be amazing in the future, but he's nowhere near consistent enough at the moment.

One for now and one to be eased in. Gomez and Galloway to come through behind Stones.
