I know this window doesn't generate loads of business ala the summer but is it not depressing now that we just don't bother to do business at all? I mean when we really need to sign players we don't, we loan players in like senderos/traore/gardner , or sign kids like stones who as great as he is now, was just a young player being signed back then.

I remember billy making his debut vs portsmouth for us and being blown away by him. his corners and fee kicks seemed to be spot on and it looked like we had signed genuine talent despite never hearing his name before we were linked. Jelavic came in and started scoring same as campbell before him.

Point is a new signing can have a massive impact onto a season such as ours and the fans will be lifted and the performances could be sprung into life.

So why cannot anyone at the club comprehend this and just sign someone to do that. Hell even a centra half comes in and poleaxes stirling in the derby and gets away with it would be fantastic for the season.

Diniyar Bilyaletdinov made his Everton debut in th 89th minute of a 2-1 win over Wigan.

And his first start against AEK Athens in a 4-0 win.

Ah wins. I miss them.

lol ok

i remember the portsmouth game he played though in the september. Looked a world beater and i thought every corner he took that day created a goal scoring chance.

Liked Billy more than most other fans in hindsight......

Taken off Sky Sports - interesting comment in red. Got to love those media-shy Italian's.

ETO'O DEAL CLOSE

Sampdoria are closing in on a deal to sign Samuel Eto'o despite the Cameroon forward having yet to reach an agreement with Everton to leave the Premier League club.

The 33-year-old has reportedly agreed an 18-month contract with the Serie A outfit and is willing to reduce his wages by 40 per cent in order to return to Italy.

However, Sampdoria sporting director Carlo Osti has revealed the Toffees want to find a replacement for the striker before any deal is concluded.

Osti told Sky Italia: "Our agreement with Eto'o has almost been finalised. He wants to join Sampdoria, those are his intentions.

"He is currently negotiating with Everton to resolve his contract with them. Everton are looking for a replacement. It might take a day more than expected, but we are moderately optimistic on Eto'o and hope he can arrive as soon as possible.

"I think Eto'o is a player of great character who can only help this group of mature players grow even more."
