We can't afford to have a player of his quality and value rotting in the reserves plus I'm sure he has plenty of friends at the club and in the team so it would be a big disruption. No a good compromise where he can leave in the summer with his head held high but in the knowledge that unless Spurs meet our valuation he would probably have to go to Spain or Germany. I would take less money from them just so Levy doesn't get him on the cheap.

It would be a example for everyone at the club. If you play well and a club meets our evaluation of the player he can go. If you start digging your heals in and phoning it in like he did yesterday then he can rot in the reserves for the next 18 months and ban him from finch farm so he gets fat.
