There is a lot of complaining about Januzaj. People are right to point out that in all likelihood he would come to us, play himself into confidence and then move back to Manchester United a better player.

I think this logic is a bit simplistic though. Firstly we are in need of quality in that area. In the absence of spending any serious money he is a very good option. We can also assess our options more clearly in the summer.

Secondly we will slowly develop a reputation as a club that develops top quality young players. I think the whole ethos of the club should reflect this. This will help us firstly in keeping some of our own young players, but should also see us getting more potentially fruitful loans in. It’s a cheap way of filling the squad and allows us to spend money on “big” players as opposed to fillers.

Finally, we have no guarantee is Januzaj does well that we will not try to keep him. I never thought we’d keep Lukaku. If Manchester United go and spend more money in the summer he may not be deemed necessary. Likewise he himself may want to move after a good loan spell.

I would definitely take him though I don't think ifs going to happen. He's the type of winger I think we need, someone who will keep the width, shape and balance of the team and allow Baines to bomb on. He's only a young kid but there's a definitely a player in him.
