Kenshin, I understand what you are saying but surely these players are well established professional footballers and should be able to fit in wherever they play within reason.

Aye they can 'do a job' but you are asking them to form a fully functioning and successful team overnight and largely with players they have never played with before.

If the players don't fit together then you get nowhere. Right now watch us when we get near the box, no-one knows what to do, no-one knows where to move to and we slow down so much we hit a banked defence every single time. We could counter attack but we hoof it instead. Players are all over the shop, full backs are covered by players who don't cover, 2 holding midfielders who are chalk and cheese essentially and a attacking midfielder who is slow and can't pass over 10 yards. When you get down to those fundamentals it's difficult for the team to work, especially when the manager (s) never play yo anyone's strengths neither

It's very Championship Manager.

Sign a load of players with big names or reputations, then when you're done see if you can fit them into some sort of formation.

If not, play your third choice right back as your left back.
I think what happens was Koeman got a pick and then Walsh got a pick. Neither men got on with each other so there was no coherent strategy.

What is worse is that looks like what has happened again this summer. Tosun was picked by Walsh and Walcott by Sam.

There's no way if Tosun was rated by Sam he would have been subbed after 60mins in his first 2 games or that Sam would have said what he did in the media when he answer the Niasse question.

I would actually like a decent coach to be brought in before we sell these players for massive losses. We haven't really tried them in another system other than defend deep and hoof.

Still believe we should rip the squad to completely and stop pandering to players who potentially could make a good team. They don't, clearly they can't all play together so actually move some on.

Get a new manager in the summer and back him to make his team. Forget Walsh, forget buying established players. Sign youngish talent ready to step up but in the managers image rather than individually. If it means we sell gueye or schneiderlin so be it. If it means we sell bolasie so be it. No attachment to anyone who doesn't fit.

My fear is that the next man (or even Sam himself) is tasked with still trying to make a winning team out of a poorly constructed squad as supposed to admitting they got it wrong and rip it up again.

We've largely signed players in their late 20s early 30s too it's all very short term and isn't working in that short term.
