Closing the gap on the top 4 in revenue and having better management could get us in the mix to win the league, but right now, we aren't only 3 players away.

I know quite a few on here think a CB and another Striker is what we really need, but I think realistically, it's a lot more than that, maybe even to push for 4th or 5th. We still don't have a right sided middy. Obviously, the club think so as well considering we've been linked with Depay, Gilson, now Pepe, Cafu, etc. We need another attacking/playmaking midfielder in the Mata mold. We need a legit left sided attacking option as well as although Super Kev has been good recently, he's inconsistent and not good for a full 90.

If we are going to play wingbacks, I'm not sure we have a backup at this point. Garbutt? Oviedo? Who's out right? Holgate?

I also wouldn't make a GK move in this window, but eventually we need someone who is better than what we've got.

Don't get me wrong, we have some great pieces that others do not, but we are also far away from contenting for the league or even really a CL place.

I was asking you a genuine question, you said it was £9m, I hadn't seen that reported, I just asked you where that had come from (was that just hear say) I was going off the BBC who are reporting it as 'fee unconfirmed' If we have got him for £9m, then that is a great bit of business from the club.

Tbf the whole window has been quiet so far across the league. No one above or in and around us in the league has made any significant moves (discounting the city lad as was agreed in the summer). Arguably we've made highest profile signing. The key is Ronald said we won't be panic buying if targets unavailable. Personally I'd keep Oviedo and jagilka just in case of injuries. If we can ditch kone and Gibson and bring in another quality attacking option I'd say we've done OK and will have enough to get 7th maybe sneak 6th if someone above drops off and we can keep a settled side.
 
Worrying or surprising ? This thread is now been made up of people's valid opinions rather than real transfer rumours so apart from the lad in Nando's with the " Donker " call we really don't know a thing , if there is anything happening or we will literally " go with what we got ". I still think ( maybe more hoping ) that we get a established striker in as cover / back up for Rom .. Hopefully we are now that good from a club point of view that nothing is been leaked whatsoever .. and we get a surprise over the next 6 days

To be fair here we are proving it on the pitch at the minute. Few more months of that and results could tell him where we are going haha

Still don't see him here next season, we would have to finish 4th to keep him

thats the worst thing we could do.... Results going well. TFA.... A few bad games and theres very little competition for places to change squad let alone formation. Cutting deadwood without replacing them with squad or 1st team players is a silly way to go about it.
