Is this the answer? Have the reserves fighting for a place in the team? Balls to signing players at all then, always an academy player there ready to fight for a place in the team.

Just wondering, we have had like one academy player come through in the last what? 6 years in Davies. Before that Rodwell, why all of a sudden has our academy gone POOF squad full of players ready for top level premiership football?

Please compile me a list of potential 'back up' strikers we could have got who would have been half decent and been happy to more than likely get no game time.

Baring in mind player like Jordan Rhodes are going for £10m and that Gabbiadini lad for £17m.

we have spent over £30m this window on 2 quality additions and got rid of a serious amount of dead wood.

I see this as a steady window. No complaints from me.

The esk seems to have totally changed his tune from last year saying we were loaded and able to buy anyone to now believing we'll trade players for profit in future.

Funny how anyone who doubted us having that much money, without proof, got a load of stick when all the evidence suggests we don't other than a few journalists and supposed itk's.

One the basis of who could do a job better than kone?

Gabiadani (who we tried to buy btw)
Rhodes (be a better option than kone)
Long (played the back up role at southampton)
Belfodil (had him already apparantly)
Naismith (better than kone)
Ighalo (better than kone)

Not the only difference, but if I had to pick one key reason why we've improved, Bolasie being gone is the one by some distance.
