Stop arsing around Brands and bring in some quality.

Seasons not over yet and a point or 3 away at the Etihad with results elsewhere going our way makes things VERY interesting.

Hard not to get excited with all the good things happening recently but I personally can’t see a lot of movement in January
If we do, I can see it being loans but I’m not overly against it. A loan to cover our CM injuries might be perfect, then go hard in the summer

I think that the lack of rumours is significant. Over the last year or so , the club has been much more professionally run , with us keeping our cards close to our chest.
I think that we will certainly bring in a CB , and possibly also a CM.
I also think that the first any of us , and the press also , will know about anything , is when they will be virtually done deals.

I know we're all excited about the new regime, but possibly not enough to "go hard", especially if it's for the whole summer. Some of us aren't as young as we once were.

Anyway, just like Marcel Brands I am not a fan of this Winter rip off window.

Sure there are bargains to be had and some good loans and maybe the odd 6months left on contract, but its mostly overpriced tosh.

Hard to say what we NEED, I think our biggest need is a CM, somebody with magic in their boots to pull the strings, a very, very difficult player to pick up, imagine if we could find an Arteta somewhere!

Then theres the CB issue which surely needs addressing, whilst Mina and Holgate look the business for me, we could certainly do with an option there.

As for Strikers ideally we punt Niasse and Tosun, which would mean we probably could do with another, but just like the CM, finding a good Striker in this window for a good price is no easy task.

Cant see us doing a lot of business at all, 2 or 3 OUTs if we are lucky and 1, maybe 2 incomings, probably loans.

I would be happy with loans in the January window, some players who are not playing currently and want to so they get in their national sides for the euros in the summer. I know we need a CB and DM, but none really spring to mind at the moment. We could do with a striker. The one that keeps coming up is Giroud at Chelsea, he seems to be interested in moving on to get in the French squad. I think he would be good to get in, despite his age, but only if we can move Niasse or Tosun on

DCL > Giroud

I think we’ll sign someone brilliant these next few weeks. A really big signing but I don't think Giroud fits that criteria any more.

Just looking at the players we have been linked with makes me nervous, like Insigne, £85m, 28 years of age, very small slight player. If we bought him and he flops, no one in Italy or Spain would pay anything close to that money to take him back, it's just too much of a gamble.
I'm not saying Giroud is a better player, but he is a better bet, would be much smaller fee. He may not start ahead of DCL and Kean all the time, but would be a good option to have, better than Niasse and Tosun
