- Radio Grenal say Everton have made contact but have not yet made an offer to Gremio for Everton Soares. UOL explain Gremio had rights to 50% of any fee, with the rest being split between the player, his agent and former club Fortaleza, but since August, Gremio own 65% which makes any transfer easier. The Toffees have moved negotiations forward and Gremio expect a bid in the region of €35m imminently. Everton could land their namesake in days, with the 23 year old seeing Goodison as a great opportunity.

Good player. I'd prefer he'd go to Palace than us. I would have had any reservations about a player who in his prime left for lots of yuan instead of trying to prove himself in a more regarded league until rules came in limiting your earnings in a retirement league.

The correct attitude of any good player really. Any decent player will need wooing and convincing that we're on the up. It's the opposite of the Carassco situation. We want a player who is prepared to come to a hard league and roll his sleeves up. At 28 this could be his career defining move - Everton is a big gamble for him

Can't we put a new name on the sign on Finch Farm and get everyone to speak in funny accents and wear disguises and pretend not to know him until he doesn't turn up.

I don't get why people keep posting like this. Summer is when you do your business. January is for supplementing the squad if necessary (and as we aren't chasing anything it isn't necessary) and taking advantage if something is available. We don't have to be pushing for deals right now.

We are 4 points behind 5th what has you thinking we are not chasing anything? Europe league helps us attract better players in the summer than if we weren't in it.

Allan would cost a significant amount, despite him apparently wanting to leave. He's also 29 which is fine. I cant see us paying big dollar for an ageing player in January.

Absolutely loved Ricardo Rodriguez when Everton played Wolfsburg looked like an absolute banging player, Not sure how he's done since joining Milan but yeah he looked top class.
