I wouldn't mind either of those players in isolation but feel that would be a lot to hang our survival hopes on.

I'd love us to have the finances/pull to go and get Thuram, but there's questions over his character and he will likely have other options.

Jonathan David - he's there and could be bought. A different class to what we have.

I just think we need a standout quality attacker in our line.

Wasn't Sulemana linked earlier in the window on a loan deal? How has he gone from that to a £30 million pounds.

Rennes can probably hear that £40m jangling around in our pockets.

He's been rated at £40mil for the past 12months+ so if anything his value has dropped.

Yeah it's dropped because he can't back up the price tag with goals or assists at the moment (bit like Gordon) but there is obvious talent there and maybe like Gordon a change of environment would be a good thing to kick him on in his career.

When Arsenal were sniffing around him last February Lille were asking for £40m.

That's the biggest problem for us mate, we haven't got time on our side.

We have to go for these sort of buys and hope that like Onana they can contribute whilst increasing in value. Short term signings on final payday wage packets like Antonio and Fraser are exactly what got us into the mess we are in at the moment were we have 90% of our turnover going towards wages.

I realise your comment is probably tongue-in-cheek but I imagine Dyche and Thelwell would have already discussed transfers in and out together. The club is not entirely clueless.

Really good stats for Lille this season as well mate. 20 games, 12 goals and 4 assists. Those stats will have them asking for big money as well.
