It's not like we have any glaring holes in our squad.

We just needed someone who knew where the net was. The Coventry striker would have been worth a punt.
But I think the board are assuming that we are going down and are stripping the wage bill (so won’t sign Coady permanently now) and raking in whatever they can financially to ease the cost of relegation.
The parachute payment won’t be enough, but another £40 million banked from the sale of Gordon certainly helps.
