Fans, especially Evertonians, seem to fail to grasp that strikers generally need service to score goals.
Some more so than others. Top strikers makes things happen themselves. Drogba for example. Carew another.

A strong target man like for example Giroud would also make our wingers more effective too. Holding off the defender for layoffs, being used for 1-2s etc.
I have absolutely zero doubt a strong targetman would really help our attacking play.

We need that type in. But Dom was exactly that - whether he could be anymore is of course up for debate, because of his injuries. But let's be honest we also don't play anything like that under Lampard. If, for example, Dyche came in, then I imagine he'd be more direct and want Dom to do more holding up (it's just an example).

But you still need quality service, end of. The strikers that can score out of nothing are ones that are generally at the very best clubs.

He literally comes and gets the ball off the defenders and links the midfield.

We have a bunch of cowards in midfield who stand still
Isn’t that the job Garner was brought in to do?

Makes no odds anyway, at this point I’m assuming the gaping chasm between defence and midfield is a tactical blunder.

And even if not, a 6 doing the job of a 6 isn’t going to help us put a ball in the box when we work it to a crossing position, or stop gray or Gordon from running into traffic.

He's been injured all season hasn't he?

And yes, as another person has said, Garner was brought in to offer an option like that but with more threat going forward.

I do believe Lampard very much pushed for the Garner signing.

You know, part of me, a very small part, cos hes really not a good manager, but part of is kinda looking forward to Dyche ball.

2 lads up top, wingers hitting the white lines, none of this "football" crap in the middle of the park, just straight up ENGLISH HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOF.

Name that former blue and bring him home.
