And even if we're just going in terms of did we have a manager here when those players were signed, then yes, we did. Lampard was officially appointed Jan 31st, with those two players signed later that day too.

Lampard supposedly has had a lot to do with Danjuma coming here, as he would do given that's been the way they've done things, with Thelwell negotiating the deal.

Keep saying it but 11 months in and our DoF hasn't yet hired a head of recruitment (officially appointed anyway) and the one it supposedly is is an internal appointment.

It's crazy.

Manager tells HoR type of player(s) he wants > HoR oversees options, comes back with list > DoF signs off.

With loan deals, in fairness, then the manager does come into play more. It's only the same as us loaning a young player out - they need to go somewhere where they're going to play etc or the manager wants them (why El Ghazi was such a mad move last year since Benitez didn't even want him).

Either he signed Van der Beek or he lied about it and tried to take credit for it after he played well in his first game, because he mentioned about 15 times in an interview after it that he'd wanted to bring him in.

I know it doesn't take being nostradamus to absolutely predict the current events in motion happening , but absolutely knew this was going to occur after bournemouth did the double on us and it was going to mirror last season with Benitez being sacked at the last minute after bringing players in and only a very sparse amount of time left to sort out transfers and a managerial replacement. Repeating myself from the summer and Chelsea but if Newcastle are willing to pay that we HAVE to sell him. The squad needs re-investment and funds aren't coming from almost anywhere else. At least in this window. Factor minimal drop off in relation to current output and any sensible club with a competent sell on strategy in our situation wouldn't think twice.
