Hmm wonder whether release clauses go down if they get relegated, hence urgency to sell Onana now
I know this club is incompetent, but I don't think they are that dumb to have a release clause below his price value. Convinced though that no players have release clauses in case of relegation.

Releases clauses on relegation are typically below the market value of the player

We don't do release clauses...not in this country really. We don't pay over 30 millions to then have a ridiculous fee in case of relegation...it doesn't make sense.
There are always release clauses, and every year it becomes evident in the transfer market when a club gets relegated. You may not be aware of them as you guys haven't been relegated but they are the norm in contracts. Why do u think Everton signed Gana from Villa on the cheap in 2016?

Perhaps but unlikely that a club like us would even contemplate to have relegation clauses. Gana relegation fee was very close to what villa paid...so if there is one, again unlikely, it would be at least very close to the purchase price and/or book value...

It is the player that gets a release upon the relegation clause put in the contract. It normally goes in along with the reduction in salary clause upon relegation and it is the norm that it is below market value. A player is not going to agree to a salary reduction based on relegation and will want an exit route. This is completely different to the Spanish release clauses which are mandatory in La Liga.
