Exactly, I would avoid a loan as he’s first team ready. If we loan him, we need to buy a CB. It makes no sense.

loans tend to be for academy kids who haven’t played senior football. Wasn’t this lad playing for Carlisle in league 2? He’s already physically massive as well. The only loan that would possible benefit is if a championship club guaranteed he could play every game for them which would never happen. He’s better sat on our bench training with our players than going back to playing at a level he’s already played at his whole career.

He's already had more accomplished performances than Pennington ever did who was never highly rated and always likely to play championship or league 1

Another impressive thing for an 18 years old was he kept his concentration and fitness for the full 90+ minutes. Arguably we should expect that anyway from a PL CB, but putting it into perspective 2 years ago he was playing Schoolboy football and wouldn’t have trained full time. He’d have a full year as a Scholar by the looks of it training with 18 year , he played his 9or10 games for Carlisle before Christmas , so possibly didn’t have a full pre season with their first team .
He appears to have the natural fitness you’d expect of an 18 year old , but I’d was expecting him to tire and his concentration to slip . It didn’t happen. A full preseason with our first team will also do him good, doesn’t need a loan yet , he’s learning far more under Carlo than any Championship/ League 1 set up could provide. If he’s not getting game time we can consider a January loan.
