2024/25 Jarrad Branthwaite

Well, in terms of games played he is but I’ve thought for a while that they might make a good England pairing. Sometimes at CB it’s more important how effective your defensive pair is than playing your best individual defender. I think they have some complementary qualities.
Well Branthwaite can't play RCB but if Guehi can that'd be great.

Left footed, but with a 5 star right foot. He played plenty of games at PSV as right sided centre back.

Guehi is very highly rated and well thought of at Palace. His positional play is excellent, he is very calm and leads by example. Certainly most comfortable on the left side of a 3 but has played for us in a 4. He was instrumental in helping to keep 7 away clean sheets in a row recently ( he was suspended for Man C and was no more liable than anyone else for the Newcastle farago).
Branthwaite seems to me to be a different type of CB altogether but fantastic at what he does. Needs a chance at full international level, he has earned it.
Cheers mate, always there with a sensible outside take.

…I was really impressed watching him at Goodison this season, when he scored and looked so composed for a defender his age. I also thought he was outstanding for England in the summer, looks a proper leader and I remember thinking I could see what the fuss is about. Be interesting what @Alan Whittle says.
Guehi is excellent, if im honest, i was more impressed with Lacroix in both our games Vs Palace this season.

He looked a real player to me.

Jarrad Braithwaite is a quality centre half, he is still of an age were he will improve. I have no doubt he will be an England player for an extended period and will amass a significant number of caps. He is a bellwether for the new Everton, he is the type of player that a progressive ambitious club needs to hang onto and build upon. If he can be convinced that his future and his personal ambitions can be met at the club then his presence will assist David Moyes and the club to attract the type of players we need to get us back up the league and to do justice to BMD. If he is sold I don’t think it would be catastrophic but it just makes the job of improving the squad and club more difficult. Big clubs don’t sell young talent unless they have something better in the pipeline, we don’t have anything better than Jarrad Braithwaite.
