Never been a Zappa fan myself...could do some Sigur Ros though.

I'm listening to all Sigur Ros stuff now. It's very nice but tends to lapse into the ethereal.

That's what attracts me, and the classical influence. I'm just glad Kjartan is back ( @magicjuan )...Zappa's a bit too esoteric for me but many love it.

One of those tracks I want to like but just can't. Mingus may be my favourite jazz musician but I think he's terrible on that.

Been reading he ( Mingus) walked out mid-recording, and Ellington had to drag him back into the studio.

An album many Jazzster's rave over, going to spin it tonight with a nightcap.

Managed to pick up a pristine vinyl copy of MJQ The Last Concert Complete today plus Stan Getz Voyage for a ridiculous £9.

Looking forward to giving them a listen tomorrow.

Recently started playing the piano and it's opened my eyes (a little bit) to jazz

Any recommendations for a beginner to enjoy (mainly piano jazz)

Not sure I'm ready for some of the atonal, 'flay a trombone to within an inch of it's life' stuff yet

Where to begin?

The genesis of Jazz commences with New Orleans ragtime, so rags from Scott Joplin and Jellyroll Morton, are worth attempting.

So many brilliant Jazz pianists to mention, but I can only give you a peek at my own personal favorite, John Lewis.
