Genuine Q, are you medically qualified?
I work as a Physiologist within Sport Science and whilst we did rush Gbamin through (the dangers of buying late) as the other poster said it's a worrying injury. It's also the sixth thigh based injury he has had within the last few years. I noticed straight away with him that (imo) he is a bit of an odd build about him, him is quite big and bulky on top but with these long wiry legs and a bit of an odd running style. It's not by any means a career threatening injury (not given the resources in football) but it can easily have lasting results in the form of restricted movements and the fact that your brain just will not let you do stuff in the way you could before because it just thinks things will go wrong automatically.

Exactly the same as what I was told, he’ll play again but might not ever be the same. The worst part being the ROM and the mechanics of the whole situation. It can lead to muscular imbalances, over compensation and a lack of confidence in the areas concerned.

Odd build?

I tore my quad muscle at 18, could never play football properly again. Not comparing my self in any way to a top athlete but its very painful when the muscle pops thru the inner layer
Tore mine as well at 22 and it took about a year just to get past the pain. Was never quite the same but got most of the way back with time. It depends on the grade of course as well as the rehab/physical therapy you get. I’m sure JPG is getting much better care than what I did. The Achilles after that though, can’t even imagine. Also one of the worst to come back from.

Yep. I play table tennis very competitively - England ranked as a youngster , played the European champion and still play in 2 leagues. I tore my achillies a few years back. Took me 4 months before I could walk properly and despite extensive rehab I have never been able to get back to the same level of fitness. In particular I just can't get up on my toes. Interestingly 2 years later I strained my other achillies which was put down to over compensating.
Obviously JPG will get excellent medical treatment ( well hopefully this is Everton ) but those 2 injuries combined are tough.
