Jekyll and Hyde game...

i thought i called it fair, spurs passing was far superior to ours, we were more organised but how would we deal without yobo and lescott? (king and dawson missing - and they needed a defensive sub)

jenas had free roam in the middle and pushed the ball everywhere under no pressure and always had us on the back foot. DID NO ONE ELSE SEE THIS???

No because Jenas was anonymous the entire match. Did absolutely nothing for his team tonight.

Remember Ali v Foreman? Ali stayed on the ropes the majority of the fight and let Foreman punch himself out, it only took one moment of genius to win the fight.

So tactically Moyes got it spot on. End of.

We're top of the league. End of.

Suits old son, I always respect your views lad but I must point out that this emperor is wearing his clothes (Euphemism) (y)

Spurs never looked like scoring again, even hitting the post. You could tell Berbatov's touch wasnt there.

Ive seen us play alot uglier, but History doesnt lie. We deserved our 3-1, we were tactically superior, they lacked bite and pace, only Malbranque and Defoe towards the end could have changed that.

Should have been four, with AJ missing a couple of breaks at the end.

Suits mate, I've been a big critic of our play for a long time. However, I can't fault our performance against spurs. Leading 3 - 1 as expected we would try to shut up shop and play to our strength which is to keep it tight and hit them on the break.
If we had given them the chance to claw back to 3 - 3 I would be livid, but not this time. For this reason alone I'm glad!

Whilst obviously not identical, compare our approach yesterday with that of Reading when they went to Man Utd. Now that's defensive football in its extreme.

I'll admit that at times in the first half we didn't keep posession anywhere near well enough and we are still prone to long balls from the back, especially from Hibbert, and Vic has a lot to learn about hold up play.

But, we outfought Spurs in every area of the pitch and showed a much greater application. Add in the players that we're hopefull of adding to this side and we appear to have both the steel and class to do very well this season.

it's called the classic smash and grab.

away from home against a passing team. sit back soak up the pressure and catch them on the break. as it happened we caught them 3 times and could have been 5.

i think if they would have scored we would have stepped up and scored 2 back in return. delighted with rubbing spurs noses in it in their backyard on live global tv.

get in there!

and jenas? sure my commentary was in korean so i could not hear any commentator gushing praise for him, but i did not see anything special from the spurs midfield except a string of snidey fouls.

god , everton are top of the league, beat our nearest rivals.. and still have the best players to come into the squad, yet still ... people find many things to moan about !!!

SHOCKING !!

Guys, come on, we actually beat Spurs 3-1 at WHL. This does not come around everyday for ANY team in the PL. If I do recall recent history, Spurs has been a bit of a boggie team for us but we seem to have turned that around beating them at home for the last 2 games on average 5-1 (2-0 & 3-1). Spurs in general have always been better balls players that most teams in the PL. I have to admit that there's rarely a better team to watch playing carpet football than Spurs when they are on song! The problem I see with our attack is that we play to much high balls from the midfield hoping the strikers will run like mad. And the source of those are Carsley and Neville! Neville belongs in the defence, NOT midfield We need Manny in the middle to assist Arteta so that he does not do all the work. Arteta has been really awesome for us and needs a descent partner who can play the through balls to the strikers and not just send the high balls for VA to head onto AJ hoping something will happen. But, we'll get there. Nothing better than looking down on the RedShite from the top of the table even though we played one more than they have!

I know. I think its bang out of order that people can complain about that performance against a good Spurs side.

I think I have said enough last night.
