Jeremy Clarkson

He's a Grade A knobhead, and the people who are saying "HE SHOULDNT HAVE BEEN SACKED THIS BLOODY PC NONSENSE CLARKSON FOR PRIME MINISTER VOTE UKIP" are idiots. And I personally think Top Gear is complete and utter crap.

But to suggest everyone that enjoys Top Gear is thick is a bit silly considering probably about 10m people watch it worldwide. May as well say every Everton fan is thick for watching 22 people they don't know kick a bag of wind round every week.

And er yeah, wrestling.

I guess if we use Tubey logic, every single wrestling fan supports the murder of partners and children, Steriod abuse, drug abuse, road rage, wife beaters and every other crime you could imagine.

Top 1% my arsehole.

It's not the same thing - they don't glorify those aspects of the employees. Top Gear does.

Supporting Jeremy Clarkson because he's "entertaining" is saying that entertainment is more important than opposing bigotry and racism. Similarly, people who continue to support Chris Brown because his music is good or whatever are basically saying good music is more important than denouncing domestic violence.

Let me put it another way - you won't find a Gary Glitter music fan these days will you? That's because supporting his music would be to suggest that's more important than child abuse. It's the same damn thing.

The world we live in is an unprincipled mess.

I think your point about Top Gear is right, but I don't think the Chris Brown analogy really works. Clarkson's "entertainment" largely consists of bigotry and racism. It is impossible, in his case, to separate the "artist" from the art.

Chris Brown, while clearly a woman-beating scrote, doesn't actaully sing about battering women. You can separate the artist from the art. Plenty of rock/pop stars are unsavoury characters. Mick Jagger once beat Marianne Faithfull up. Joe Meek killed his landlady. Ronnie Spector was an abusive scumbag. There's a long list.

And there are still Gary Glitter fans, unbelievably enough. There was a feature on them in one of the papers a month or so ago.

Does any radio anywhere play him though? Nope, and for good reason.

I'll give you another example - Luis Suarez. Everyone on here laughed at the Kopites for wearing shirts supporting a racist, as they were basically saying being a good footballer is more important than being a racist.

It's the same culture with the Clarkson situation.

I'd also say it is possible to seperate the artist from the art with Clarkson. After all, at it's core, it's a show about cars - NOT a show about bigotry and racism. People have completely lost sight of that.
