2024/25 Jesper Lindstrom

Tbf to him he's not playing as an out and out winger, Moyes has him in the hybrid full back/winger role to get the best out of Ndiaye. So he might not be getting all of the numbers, but I think he's been really good since Moyes has come in.

Looked a flat back 4 to me yesterday mind.

….mmm, I like the lad too but still not convinced we should pay £20m for him. He’s industrious and decent in possession but I want him to be a goal threat. Squandered the one very good opportunity he had, he needs to be more of a threat than he’s showing.

The Derby would be a good time to take it to the next level.

To be fair that £20m (and I'm pretty sure it's considerably lower than that) is the equivalent to maybe £5m a few years ago

When other clubs are spunking £60m+ on very average players he's starting to look like a bargain. Very much a Moyes type player for me too

…I like the lad but the calls on her for a RW remain, so if that’s the case I can’t see us investing in Lindstrom, especially with McNeil in that position too.

We have seen the improvement with Moyes, so I think we will get to see a nice good run-out from Lindstrom to finish the season with.

By the time we get to the end of the season we should have a really good idea of if hes worth exercising the buy option. Opinions could be VERY different by then, 15 matches is a long time.

McNeils not and never has been a right winger mate.

I think it's very premature to say we should buy him or he's worth £19m.
He's been better last 3 games, but has to continue to improve and do it against it better opposition.
We need real pace and goals for that kind of dough.
19m is pretty much a standard pint fee for a player from the championship with one good season nowadays

As for real pace, yeah it gives an option but it's not a must, it's a must if you play in a deep block looking to counter as you're prime tactic but Moyes never played that way.

Can count the number of really fast midfielders we had under Moyes on about two fingers.

What Moyes does like is real pace at the back and with Jarrod and O'Brien we have that in spade.

Look at Moyes best sides with us, Carsley, Graveson, Arteta, Cahill, Fellaini, Pienaar, Osman, Baines, Coleman, Miralles, Hibbert, Lescott, Jags, Distin,

The only ones with genuine pace are three centre backs and Miralles.

Even Baines and Coleman weren't 'pace' merchants, they had decent speed and great engines meaning they could run the line all game.

Moyes always rated quickness of thought and decisions way ahead of how fast a lad can sprint.

Playing better, no production. Not worth buying if he can't produce. He didn't have as many defensive responsibilities yesterday, which to be fair to him he's embraced. But need more going forward to consider purchasing.

I agree with you , at the minute. I’m hoping he continues to improve and makes buying him a no brainer but a winger with no first team goals assists in a long time , since he went to Napoli I think , is one you have to think hard about spending £20m on .

Not for me. Only one game all season has he really produced in an attacking sense and that was against Spurs. I thought Brighton was a difficult one given how we played but then against Leicester he looked to go back to the Lindstrom we are used to, missed a fairly easy chance and didn't do much else other than that. 54 games with no goals and assists and you can see why.

I'm not saying he's the worst player ever, but no where near good enough for where Moyes wants to take us and highly unlikely he will start becoming good enough consistently. Let's compare him to someone Moyes signed Mirallas. Mirallas won't go down as the best Everton player ever but he did have end product for both goals and assists. When he got in good positions he did something with it, Lindstrom just seems to fluff his lines nearly all of the time.

So far off it. Just gets the ball and either loses it, smashes it out for a goal kick or plays an easy pass backwards. Offers nothing and is the reason we are seeing scorelines like this one. What i mean by that is he is allowing kerkez freedom because he has no fear about leaving Linstrom as he knows he will do nothing up the other end.
