2024/25 Jesper Lindstrom

Wouldn't disagree. Though you'd hope that's the case for anyone coming to the Prem in a struggling team.

Would you pay the fee to sign him though?
Think it's v difficult to make the case for paying the fee.

I don't think he's a bad player, but it's hard to see him ever justifying the fee. Doesn't score goals, isn't particularly creative and there were even question marks about his work rate earlier in the season.

Maybe he'd get better with a second season, but given there is a world of players to pick from, why deliberately pay £20m for a player who has, at best, flattered to deceive for most of the time.

£20m is a fairytale.
Napoli are desperate to get shut.
If we want him I reckon you'd get him for less than £10m - who else is going to buy him.
I don't fancy him tbh.

I’d say your third paragraph is the key. I’m not sure we were worse because he wasn’t playing as such, we were worse because we had no width. I think people were a bit harsh on Harrison on Saturday personally, he did some rubbish stuff like but he did produce a few things - he was probably our best outlet for much of the game.

yes sorry meant to say it’s not necessarily him it was the lack of width

but he is our best bet out wide right unless patterson gets a chance and shows some form

You have to see something to justify that.

I struggle with 3 (or 4?) managers not fancying him at Napoli [Rudi Garcia, Walter Mazzarri, Francesco Calzona and Antonio Conte], and this;

75 games - ouch.

Moyes challenged both him and Harrison a couple of weeks back and tbf to Harrison he produced a goal the following week. Jesper did not and got dropped from the starting line-up consequently. I'd say there is zero chance of us paying any fee for him as things stand.

It’s a bit of a punt isn’t it but £20m doesn’t guarantee you much with any unknown players these days does it.

Nothing is guaranteed but 20 million isn't a punt...there are far more valuable players in our own squad who cost less than that. And while someone from the outside would be an unknown, Lindstrom is a known and the knowledge isn't very flattering.

It’s a chronic sign of the times that our entire midfield (13) has scored less than one of Bournemouths players (Kluivert) and less than Mbeumo and equal with Wissa of Brentford in the league this season.

It’s completely unacceptable to have a midfield bereft of goal scoring candidates, and I beg you not to check the assists record for them which is borderline criminal for a midfield.
