Leeds must pay RB Leipzig £18m after Cas rejects appeal over Jean-Kevin Augustin transfer
Leeds United lose their appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) over the transfer of Jean-Kevin Augustin from RB Leipzig.www.bbc.co.uk
Odd one this. So Leeds were obligated to buy a player from RB Leipzig for ~£18m following a loan spell, but they didn’t, so Leipzig sued them. The player now plays for Basel, but CAS has ruled Leeds must pay RB Leipzig the money. Even though he’s now at Basel? So does this mean the player will transfer to Leeds, or are Leeds paying £18m for nothing ??
The latter essentially. Both clubs waived him as a free agent after the debacle and he went to Nantes; messy and complicated but he'll stay where he is in Basel.
