We haven't got a backup keeper, he costs us nothing extra, I can see why we've done it. Pickford only missed 1 game last season he couldn't play in so it's a low risk move.

not sure why people are bothered about this he will either be decent GK cover or go on loan. As we’ve seen from what happened with Nkounkou it only takes one goid loan and we could earn a decent fee or we let another players contract run down and release on a free.
Not as good back up as Begovic so another position we will be weaker. I can only assume our financial position is extremely bad

The same sorts of people on here and on twitter bemoaning giving Virginia a new contract ate those that are saying we should play/count on youngsters instead of signing Ashley Young. Can't have it both ways. I haven't seen much of him play but id rather have one young (but experienced with loans) GK and one old fart GK than two old fart GKs
He was already here so it's not weakening. We might be bringing on another keeper for all we know. He might be ready to step up to number 2. The other keeper has a coaching role as well, helping in Pickford's warm up and training.
It makes sense to me. He’s a back up , not good enough to challenge Pickford but we could stick him on the bench or keep him in the squad as our third GK. That saves searching for another goalkeeping oldie. Alternatively we could loan him out with a loan fee and recall option if needed and opportunity to sell him on this time next year. There’s little downside to this , not in the way we used to keep older young players on for too long.

Because he’s won’t be a decent cover GK he’s crap and hasn’t really improved since he come from arsenal. Won’t ever be our first choice or even challenge and will finish after his 2 years and probably go on a free and if he’s going to be loaned out what’s the point?
