Joel Robles

poor for the 2nd goal no doubt about it and didn't command his box on a couple of crosses but great save at the end.

I don't think he's the answer to our number 1 conundrum but there's no doubt he's trying his best and he'll be as disappointed as anyone with the goal conceded from the free kick

It was straight at him and he put it back into danger. If that was Howard you would want blood.

It was mainly tongue in cheek, this forum does jump on him a fair bit after a dodgy moment. I think that free kick was a bit of a freak tbh and can't find it in me to blame him too much. I just like it if he gets praised for the good things, I think it was a good reflex save myself

My opinion remains unchanged. He's a decent no.2 but not good enough if we're wanting top 4.
Thing is what top 4 keepers can we get? Hart, Heaton, Schmeichel and Pickford not even close to that standard, that is the issue I have. I like Robles but if we can get better we should, but even being in the Europa league isn't going to attract a top 4 standard keeper

Pickford is a couple of levels below but will improve possibly to that level. If we want to dominate teams we need to play a high line and that means a keeper whose very good with his feet like Pickford....the opposite of schmeichel.

Butland if fit would be the ideal keeper, he's going to be in the same bracket as de gea etc once he gets into a better team.

Robles is a good keeper though and I think would be a perfect backup and I'm sure lower/mid table teams would snap him up

Isn't his distribution the thing Schmeichel is known for?

Could have done better with the goals but also made some decent saves

Grew into the game as it went on

Typical Joel performance really. Solid enough but I really think he needs to be showing a bit more in the coming weeks, otherwise Koeman might look to the market to replace him
