Joey Barton Watch...

Joey Barton helping promote the single released by Michael Molloy the young lad who died in the Bestival crash last year. Very decent of him.

Barton has been at it again recently. They've mentioned this in the "today's football" thread but thought I'd stick it in here too, being that it's the appropriate place for it

OM can't complain too much I suppose. They must have known what they were getting into when they signed young Joseph

Maybe I'm getting the chronology of this all wrong, but the way it seems to me is that Silva has came out with an outburst first (pretending not to know his name etc.) unprovoked, and Barton has responded.

If that's right, then why is the outrage at Barton? Yes, he's using more colourful language, but so what?

Barton had the first pop at him, Silva responded in a press conference, then Barton called him a ladyboy.

Cos silva is criticising barton's comments, barton is insulting silva himself.

It's a tone thing, really. Silva has basically said "barton was criticised my teammates, I think that's rubbish and I don't think he's good enough himself to justify his criticism" and barton has responded by saying 'well you're fat and girly and cowardly".

Beyond the childishness, it's playing the man not the ball, you know?

Joey Barton's claims that a deal is in place for him to stay at Marseille have been denied by the club's president Vincent Labrune.

Barton, currently on loan at the French club from relegation-threatened QPR, tweeted that he would not be returning to Loftus Road next season.
"Some strange people think that I'll be playing in the Championship next season?? Good one! QPR might, I won't! #fact," he wrote. "It's not up to QPR if I stay. Agreement already in place for me to stay here. Can't see QPR wanting me on the wage bill in the Champ."
Barton said that Marseille are now in his blood and Labrune confirmed the club would be interested in keeping the fiesty midfielder but nothing is in place.
Laubrune was quoted on eurosport.fr as saying: "We would not be against the idea of keeping Joey Barton at OM but he belongs to QPR. There is no agreement as suggested by Joey Barton."
QPR chairman Tony Fernandes posted a pointed tweet which appears to be a response to Barton's claim that it is not up to the club whether he stays.
"For the record QPR players under contract cannot decide where they play. They are under CONTRACT," Fernandes wrote.
