Dirty player but which one is the convicted violent offender?

Of course, but then so was Big Dunc wasn't he? Is there much of a difference there?

Without wishing to turn this thread to philosophical, surely the whole point of prison (or one of them at least) is to rehabilitate those that end up there, therefore once released people surely deserve a 2nd chance in order to re-enter society?

I can take his intellectual musings with a pinch of salt, but as footballers go for me he's one of the more likable ones as he seems a little more grounded with reality than many.

Worryin this Bruce, i'm agreeing with you again.

Barton is probably the most reality checked footballer there is. I say that because on Goals on Sunday, Chris Kamara asked his was it his business to ask where the Andy Carroll money at Newcastle went and should he of just focused on playing, his reply was that he cared 'deeply' about what was going on and if he were a fan he'd want to know, then said a lot of fans are kept in the dark about what goes on at clubs and that he gets paid handsomely and that's because of the fans so maybe they should know more. Players get accused of being distant from fans and not caring as long as they take a wage home, well even though he's a bell at least he appreciates that when many don't.

grounded? He runs around the pitch saying how much he earns, then when he gets chopped he publically puts down the opposition player as dirty and sunday league. His type of wind ups are Sunday league to be fair. And in Sunday league the one mouthing gets chopped...end of.

Henry is dirty, but doesn't disguise who he is or promote it. Barton does.

Barton is an attention whore

I see all the QPR faithful have taken to Barton big time

Yes, Dunc's was for what barely passes for a headbutt on the pitch.

Barton's are for brawling outside a McDonalds and for beating a teammate so badly they suffered a detatched retina.

Dunc beat up burglars.

Barton attacked a 15 year old Everton fan.

I think there's a difference between Dunc and Barton.

Delighted he didnt end up here , wanted him when he first became available , but the way he has carried on this season has made me glad we steered clear .

There's little difference to he honest. Evertonian's love a thug.

There's thugs and there are thugs. I love rugby so a bit of biff I quite like. We must remember that football is a mans game, so for me the odd shoulder charge or punch is fair enough. That's generally a bit of manly posturing. Trying to chop players down and break legs however is cowardly as you're not competing mano e mano.

That said, Barton did act like a tart against Arsenal going down like he did.

Guess he's one of those you love if he's on your team but not so much if he's playing against you. Like a less talented Roy Keane.

Not sure about the odd punch. I'm all for the art of fighting but there's a time and a place for it. 75% of these situations are usually very snidey aswell, so it's not really mano e mano. It's plain stupidity aswell, and very unprofessional.

Duncan Ferguson and Joey Barton aren't very different. Evertonian's would love him if he played for us. He is one of those players, as you say.
