Player Valuation: £20m
Sky not naming the Man U player who was arrested on a rape charge. Man U web sites claim it was Jonny Evans.
Unbelievable performance from professional footballers. Read this;

Reeling Manchester United stars were said to be “in shock” last night after a
team-mate was arrested on suspicion of rape.
Defender Jonny Evans, 19, was being held in custody in the city.
He presented himself to police after jetting back into Manchester Airport following
a day-trip to Monaco, thought to be pre-arranged and with a relative.
A police spokesman said last night: “Detectives investigating a report of rape at a
Manchester city centre hotel have arrested a 19-year-old. He was arrested on
suspicion of rape this evening after presenting himself to police. He remains in
custody.”
Police began an investigation after a 26-year-old woman claimed she had been
attacked at the Red Devils’ Christmas party.
She was yesterday taken to a hospital’s sexual assault referral centre, where she
was examined by medics.
She gave a brief statement to cops before being allowed home and will be more
thoroughly interviewed today.
Some United aces headed to the Christmas do at Manchester’s Great John Street
Hotel after a marathon drinking session.
They started Monday lunchtime at the city centre’s 235 casino, where they had a
flutter and lunch.
They moved to The Grapes pub for a sing-song and some paid a brief visit to a
lapdancing bar.
They turned up at the hotel where the champagne was flowing.
Each United player had been allowed to take a set number of guests.
The swanky venue, where rooms cost between £235 and £395, was hired
exclusively for the party by the Premier League soccer giants.
Nearly 100 girls were there, some of whom had travelled hundreds of miles to
attend.
One male guest said: “I spoke to one stunner who had come up from London and
another who had travelled from Newcastle.
“They were gorgeous — it was wall-to-wall babes. Most were aged between 18
and 30 and some were throwing themselves at the players.
“The booze was really flowing. Waitresses were handing out pink champagne to
whoever wanted it. And the players seemed to be knocking back beer, vodka
and whisky.” The guest described the do as a “great party”.
He said star striker Wayne Rooney and defender Rio Ferdinand spent most of it
on the dance floor.
But he added: “Ryan Giggs stole the show when he did an Elvis Presley
impression.”
Police were called to the hotel at 4.15am yesterday.
It is the second year the Christmas bash has been held there.
Last year, the team ran up a £43,000 bar bill and the hotel was damaged by
guests. Old Trafford bosses were furious after an expensive painting was ripped
off a wall and ornaments were destroyed.
Evans, whose full first name is Jonathan, made his first team debut for United in a
Carling Cup defeat against Coventry in September.
He played in their 4-0 Champions League win over Dynamo Kiev last month and in
the 1-1 draw at Roma in the same competition last week.
He has been a regular for Northern Ireland for a year and turned out in their 1-0
away defeat to Latvia in August in the European Championship qualifiers.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson raved about his potential last year and said: “He’s
got a wonderful temperament.
“He’s quick, he reads the game and he has a good technique on the ball. He’s got
everything.”
He played 18 league games for Sunderland last season while out on loan from
United.

im judging nice and early. remember the cahill lies? remember the seven under suspicion at newcastle? stories like this shouldnt make it to the media until proper evidence is acquired.

every time a case like these fail, it does serious harm to future victims chances of stepping forward and getting justice.

Agree whole heartetly mate, both for the accussed and the victim, surely if true shel face a media onslaught and if not the lads reputation ios tarnished and the precedent of press investigation in to another "football bad boy begins).

This lad is actually a very good prospect for the future!

What I dont get is why- why the [Poor language removed] would he do it?! Hes a professional footballer amd hes no Luke Chadwick (ugly [Poor language removed]) he could pretty much get his pick of the girls. It doesnt stack up for me.

any number of possibilities

they were shacked up and then he got caught cheating - revenge time
he spurned her advances - revenge time
she fancies a payday from a red top - cash dreams

or, there is a possibility hes a bit rough and is also a bit pushy

(tangent time, i dont know him, nor do i have any evidence, but that john leslie didnt sit to well as a saint with me - wasnt it more than just one or two women as well - bit cloudy that one)

Why not? If found guilty and he has served his punishment he becomes a free man surely?
Of course i'd be surprised if any professional club would employ him but you never know.

Why? Because if he is guilty and lets say he becomes as big as David Beckham (okay, very unlikely but you never know) - is it fair the woman has to be reminded of what he done every day?

regardless of fame and media exposure, who is to say a rape victim would or wouldnt relive the torture daily.

for that reason alone, all rapists, when found 100% guilty, would be hung till dead by their neck.

Murdered you mean?

Ok lets not go there again, but 2 things :

1 : there is no such thing as 100% guilty, especially in cases of rape

2 : hanging the rapist is not going to stop the memories and relieving of the experience by the victim. Sure it might make them feel better that they are dead but it might also have the oppisite effect because they'd prefer the rapist to suffer and to have to live with the pain and suffering they inflicted on their victim for the rest of their life.

So i dont quite understand your reasoning in your post ive quoted.

before it gets any hotter.

there are cases of 100% guilt.

causing permanent harm to a criminal is illegal, to inflict permanent suffering and pain for the rest of an offenders life is going to be a tough chore.

as for coyney, certain crimes disgust society more than others, and i consider rape to be one of the worst - that said DBR&G is entitled to his/her opinion, and although i am occasionally shocked at certain attitudes and beliefs he/she posts up, the board isnt going to get anywhere with callling names and questioning each others support. I know this subject is highly emotive and very strong feelings abound, especially in a situation when you personally have seen the 'fallout' from such a heinous crime and the devastation it causes not only to the victim but also the family.

I'd love to reply with an equally abusive and stupid post but i'm not going to.

Instead i'll assume you mistunderstood what i meant.

Of course the victim and rapist will know exactly what happened and if it was rape or not, i'm not disputing that. They know the truth 100%.

But in a court of law as far as i'm concerned there is no such thing as 100%proof, its impossible to truly know no matter how much evidence there is. 99.9% proof yeah but not 100%.

So therefor it was to counter Suits point that anyone found 100% guilty should be hung.

I find rape just as despicable and [Poor language removed] horrible as anyone else.

50 witnesses

of which

10 police officers
10 solicitors
10 doctors/nurses
10 civil servants
10 members of the public

all witness a cold blooded murder,

Addition, multiple cctv video evidence

plus, DNA evidence at the scene and on the dead body and on the murder weapon

plus a full confession including motive and preparation.

'100%' enough for you?

(im reminded of...."Edmund (blackadder): I remember Mattingburg's most famous case, the case of the bloody knife.
A man was found next to a murdured body, he had the knife in his hand,
thirteen witnesses that seen him stab the victim, when the police
arrived he said, "I'm glad I killed the [Poor language removed]." Mattingburg not
only got him off, but he got him knighted in the New Year's Honors
list, and the relatives of the victim had to pay to have the blood
washed out of his jacket.)
