Agree with all this.
He was exceptional at Sunderland in both his reflexes and decision making. I suspect the latter has been ruined by the number of different goalie coaches he has endured since coming to Goodison, plus those in the England set up. I make it something like 7 or 8. And doubtless they would have all had their own views on what a keeper should be doing when it comes to crosses, positioning, distribution etc. We should be getting a long term keeper coach in, someone who likes the keeper to come for crosses and dominate the box. While at it he could get rid of Pickford's two failures in technique -- always using stiff wrists to block shots, and going for low shots with just his hands without having the rest of his body behind them.

I can never understand why we defend free kicks by lining up between the penalty spot and the edge of the area. It invariably means having to move backwards and twist your body, leaving all the defenders facing their own goal and the opposition forwards having the forward physical momentum. The two opening goals in our last two games showed the problems.

Three in 3 seasons is two too many, particularly for a young keeper. If Southall wasn't such an oddball I'd suggest he be given the role.

Howard started to do this towards the end as well. When shorter keepers lose their reaction time at the end of their careers they start anticipating where the ball woild go rather than reacting to where it actually goes because they know they can’t make the save quickly enough anymore. That’s why towards the end there’d be countless times when one on one Howard would just dive o it the way of the attacker who could just walk round him and put it in an empty net. Pickford can’t have lost his reflexes yet but he seems to be preempting the ball and over diving on a lot of saves. Not sure if it’s a posturing thing or a confidence issue.
Where did we get the 30 million valuation from ?
He was in goal for Sunderland when they got relegated attracting a lot of attention with his star jumps. Previous to that the mackams loaned him out six times but unfortunately for them he kept coming back.
Sunderland are not noted for there shrewdness in the transfer market and the old chaf we have sent up there bears witness to that but they certainly got there own back when fat head and Walsh turned up with a cheque book.

Kepa is absolute balls, I’m surprised he survived after refusing to be subbed in the LC final last year. We should be looking at someone like Heaton (if not too crocked) to fill a void until we can find a long term solution. People have been mentioning Ramsdale, with his young age would he be another Pickford?
