I couldn't understand it: he was getting a bad back at Sunderland picking all the balls out of his net, but he was somehow seen as a hot prospect.

Yep! he's had all the chances to prove himself....Just not good enough full stop!

The only goalie i can think of out there which would suit this beloved team down to the ground and wouldn't cost any where near the £30 million we payed for Pickford is Cardiff Citys 'Neil Etheridge' been impressed with this lad for a year or two now....He dominates the box which Pickford just doesn't do....A big plus is he's at the peak age for all quality goalies 29 to 30 yrs of age and very agile for a tall lad......Hopefully Cardiff don't go up to Premier league in playoffs(sorry City fans just being a little selfish there)......Maybe get him for around £20 million....Most defineately worth it'imvho

Fair comment.
Some, like me, thought he was just having a wobble and we're prepared to give him the time to steady himself.
But Messrs Merson, Sutton, Nicholas et al have decided he truly is cack, and I'm having to agree with them.

With a midfield as bad as ours, he's done really well to put himself in a position where people could see goalkeeper as the priority position to improve this summer.

At this point, he's as bad as Tim Howard was in that last year. A howler every other game. Complete liability but it's okay because, as he says, 'his mental strength means mistakes don't affect him.'

If offered a defeat before the game. I'd have wanted an absolute howler from Pickford. We got one, so softens the blow of getting beat.

If the club do not get a number 1 in, after this season alone nevermind his whole period at the club, I'll be both amazed and incredibly disappointed. Liability doesn't cover it and he's not even good with his feet, one of his apparent 'attributes'.

I can't think of many other footie teams I watch where I wouldn't swap their keeper for ours. Just proper basic keeping errors now.

Literally every other starting keeper in the league... i'd genuinely rather have Kepa or the kopite rat at Villa in goal and thats saying something
