I think having two aerially dominant CB’s next to Pickford is vital. He can focus on his strengths and worry a little less about his weaknesses in the air. He still needs to work on his delivery a good bit, but I’ve noticed he is getting better with his right foot. He has been putting work in for sure.

Every keeper has weaknesses though, the difference is that Pickford’s were ridiculously over emphasised by elements of the media that were jealous of his and therefore Everton’s success at the World Cup. A gobby lad from Sunderland with a bad haircut playing for Everton is not the southern kopite media hack’s version of what a star England player should look like. They didn’t want him in the team to begin with as they pushed for Butland mercilessly. When he stole the show they couldn’t wait for him to slip up and absolutely destroy him for it. Some Everton fans sadly also got onboard with that. Since the Newcastle game he’s been brilliant but there hasn’t been a word in the media about it.

He can be suspect to claiming high balls but as I said every keeper has a weakness. Alisson is ridiculously slow at getting down to shots hit across him and is poor at shots from distance. De Gea has had a torrid time recently. Lloris has terrible positioning that gets him in all sorts of problems. Pickfords positioning, reflexes, shot stopping, decision making is all spot on and getting better and better. He’s a top keeper and one of the best in the league now.

Couldn’t have written it better myself. Pickford is world class. Doesn’t mean he doesn’t have weaknesses. But he has less weaknesses than most and his strengths are top class. And he plays for Everton

Can’t we all just enjoy the nice things we have?

Every time this gets bumped, I assume he has been a tit. Its nice to see that he hasnt been, and is getting well appreciated as a good goalie now.

One thing I will say is that he was having a laugh with the ref/Villa players at full time. Not sure what’s so funny about losing to a promoted team.
