2020/21 Jordan Pickford

Honestly, the comparison of Pickford's coming together with Van Dijk, which any reasonable observer would say was clumsy but not malicious, with Harald Schumacher's MMA assault on Patrick Battiston just adds to the hilarity and transparent hatchet job that's going on.

Some people really want to believe that Pickford is the reincarnation of the great Toni. If only. We'd have a world-class goalie on our hands.

Even the comment attributed to him about paying for Battiston's dental work was unfair on the mad German. He was actually relieved more damage hadn't been done. But his "challenge" was crazy and kamikaze. I read his book and he made some interesting observations, one of which was that the incident wasn't just replayed - it was replayed over and over again in slow motion to make it look even worse. That's what's been going on with Saturday's collision too, constant slow motion, giving the impression it was pre-meditated in some way - or that there was time to pull out.

Changing the story to suit the agenda again lol - they even quoted today on there own twitter feed the bit that said from saturdays" The athletic paper" that VAR did check the Pickford thing and said it was ok, yet have a insider story from the other lot it seems lol-Never going to keep quiet this lot and dont see why they keep going on none stop every day

Yes, I saw this too. I see a ban coming.

Was just telling my lad (he's 21) about that game.
Styles make matches and this one was perfect: flamboyant France, full of flair but a little brittle, versus mighty West Germany, cynical, smart, and never to be underestimated.

The Schumacher incident has almost overshadowed what was an unbelievable game of football. Both sides had brilliant players. The French played off the cuff, but they always gave you a chance, and that was fatal against a team that you had to scrape off the pitch to defeat. If France knew how to defend a two-goal lead, they'd have won. But they went for a fourth and then Karl-Heinz Rummenigge came off the bench and that was the end.

That German side was incredibly calculating and cynical. They expected to beat Algeria by eight goals, Schumacher apparently predicting that they'd dedicate the seventh goal to their wives and the eighth to their dogs. They also filled condoms with water and bombed waiting journalists outside their hotel. How could you not love such fellows?

Poor Jordan is an amateur compared to these lads. He needs to drop some condom balloons on the heads of Julien Laurens and Graeme Souness for starters.

Do they even realise that we don't care if he gets banned anyway?

He is at fault for a goal every two games lol
Well it's about the principle of it.

If Pickford is banned for a poor, but ultimately not malicious, tackle - they must immediately also ban Mane, Alexander-Arnold, Robertson, Gomez and Fabinho for some of their horror tackles (most of which were one hundred percent intentional I might add).

The media and Liverpool fans are seriously out of control on this one.

When Son INTENTIONALLY kicked Gomes at full speed in the leg for retribution for an earlier tackle, he broke his ankle as a result. Where was this outrage then? Why was the narrative 'poor Son' when he did something much, much worse?

Oh right, wrong player for the wrong team.

Footy just seemed so much better back then.
