Just wish he would catch crosses occasionally, tbh there are very few good keepers atm and prob not that many in the league I would take over him
It's noticeable how many keepers don't catch crosses compared to 20-30 years ago - though there were a lot of punchers back then compared to the years beforehand.

Must be something to do with the lightness of the modern ball and the amount of swerve, dip and speed on a good cross. Might explain why so many corners hit the first man - Hitting it like a free kick to generate that movement rather than just lifting it in and making it too easy to defend.

When you watch something like The Big Match on one of the ITV channels a lot of the crosses that are caught seem very slow in comparison. The absolutely thundered ones get punched.

If a keeper can come and catch it then it's probably a poor delivery even if it's right in the spot it needs to be.

Goalkeeper: Jordan Pickford (Everton)

Jordan Pickford

He's not my favourite goalkeeper by any means but credit where credit's due - he saved Everton against Arsenal. Two important saves by Pickford, the first from Dani Ceballos and the second from Gabriel Martinelli keeps Everton in the hunt for a Europa League place. Meanwhile, Pickford's counterpart Bernd Leno had a shocker. It doesn't matter how many saves you make in a match if you can't save the one that matters.

Did you know? Pickford became the first Everton keeper to keep a clean sheet away at Arsenal since Tim Howard in April 2013.

Lets go back to the leather casey with laces. That will sort out the men from the boys.

It is this and also things like the amount of young lads these days that come through from a cage football/ Futsal background where the ball is not really going above head height that much, and the fact that over the last 10 years the game has evolved quite a bit and the ball is much more about playing on the deck. Remember Chilavert? he stood out a mile and people thought he was bonkers because he used to come miles out of his goal with the ball and now they all do it.

He's not my favourite keeper, in fact, he's my mortal enemy.

Always includes a little jab whenever he picks an Everton player.

treat yourself to the youtube video of the free kick he scored against River where he burles it from inside his own half.
