It's noticeable how many keepers don't catch crosses compared to 20-30 years ago - though there were a lot of punchers back then compared to the years beforehand.Just wish he would catch crosses occasionally, tbh there are very few good keepers atm and prob not that many in the league I would take over him
Must be something to do with the lightness of the modern ball and the amount of swerve, dip and speed on a good cross. Might explain why so many corners hit the first man - Hitting it like a free kick to generate that movement rather than just lifting it in and making it too easy to defend.
When you watch something like The Big Match on one of the ITV channels a lot of the crosses that are caught seem very slow in comparison. The absolutely thundered ones get punched.
If a keeper can come and catch it then it's probably a poor delivery even if it's right in the spot it needs to be.
