He makes our defence nervous - plus his kicking which we all raved about was when he first came - he is also star jumping the one that big the post his starjump left a gap at the near post ......pure lack of confidence imo ....'
The defence in the 2nd had were brilliant he never had a shot to save .....
Any set peice near the box my heart's in my mouth with him ....
Going through a very bad spell ATM ......

Looking at the Crystal Palace goal I felt Jordan Pickford could have done better; the ball seems to go directly over him and he appears to be arching backwards (making himself shorter) when going for it with his hand. However, our defence didn't help him at all and did very little to prevent the header; we really have to deal with crosses and corners far better in the future or we'll be getting punished more often than not. Mind you, I did think Pickford looked a little more settled and less erratic today.

1 shot on target 1 goal, admittedly he could do nothing about that really, but as you say, that starjump, what on earth?

The angle was impossible, but his star jump made a goal actually possible, it defied sense why he felt he needed to even move for it.

Alls he had to do was cover the near post - we need a back up as his confidence has been shot after the other night......

makes me nervous everyt time a high ball/cross comes in, I can only imagine what the defenders feel like, he doesn't instil confidence.

This is my main problem with him. He's just not dominant enough with balls into the box. For a fairly big team we concede far too many chances from set pieces and I lay most of the blame at Pickford's door for that. Like you said, he makes everyone nervous.

Didn't have much to do today. But is it any coincidence that the only times we looked in danger was from crosses into the 6 yard box

From the bbc sport write-up
  • Excluding penalties, Everton (18) have conceded more goals from set-pieces than any other current Premier League side since the start of last season.
