he’ll come in handy in the summer when we can flog him for 30 million to cover relegation losses. Should be able to get decent replacement for a fraction of that. Wouldn’t even mind Begovic being first choice in the championship and reinvest the money in other parts of the team- ie a goal scorer.

I've slated him plenty of times in the past but to be fair to him I think the general perception of him - mainly from 'casual' fans - is way off. He's been generally good for us for a couple of years now, not perfect but easily above average. It's weird the way that he's derided as some sort of goalkeeping Titus Bramble by all the bantz ladz.

That 18 months where he couldn’t save a shot has set the bar so low for him that our fans think making saves is above and beyond what a keeper is expected to do. Of course he’s had good games, but he’s cost us probably as many points as he’s “saved” us if not more. I just don’t like the style of goalkeeper he is, he unsettles defenders and I think you can see it in their body language, no matter what combination of defenders we put in front of him they always seem to be all at sea and terrified. Give me a calm, safe pair of hands that just does the basics over an erratic child on a sugar rush that sometimes makes amazing springing camera saves.
Nah he was crap and I said it plenty of times. He's been good for a couple of years though. Like I said, not faultless or incredible or anything, but better than average. He's better than pretty much all the defenders we've ever played in front of him, so I suppose it's possible that they look all at sea because they're crap rather than because he is. In my opinion he's one of very few players in our squad who would realistically be looking at moving to somebody better than us if he left, that doesn't make him a world beater but he's not the joke figure some people claim he is, not by a long shot.
