There was a few players at fault with that second goal and Pickford was not blameless, stuck on his line with the centre coming into his six yard area he really is poor with centres and corners coming into that area and Mina seemed to be having a go at him over the free kick, he left a big gap between himself and his right hand post inviting the kicker to put the ball exactly where he placed it.
Thought it was pretty much a carbon copy of the ward-prowse freekick in the Southampton game.
Lessons not learned.

I remember when he signed somebody posted tongue in cheek something along the lines of “I look forward to people ripping him for every goal he concedes” and that’s literally been it for him since he’s been here (at least on the forum).

I look at it like this:
Nigel Martyn is lauded by Evertonians and Pickford has shown himself to be a far better keeper than Martyn ever was. Thus, he’s a good goalkeeper
He's not better than Martyn for me, certainly not prime Martyn. Pretty close to the Everton version, which is praise

Don't think he can really be blamed for the goals, although like others I'm a bit confused with the free kick as he seemed to react late to it.
The challenge on Haaland was a bit stupid. If we hadn't have been losing by 3, might have been a pen (and a card, or some type). He did something stupid last week against Brighton as well, which wasn't necessary...

I had a pretty good view of that and I think he was slightly unsighted. The reaction was a split second too late

The decision to mess Martyn around at PJ’s Hamperland office and then let him slip off to Leeds in the mid-90’s is one of them points in our history where we shot ourselves in the foot
I was just thinking about that after i posted it. I remember being at my grandads and seeing his paper saying we were signing martyn. Thought he was class at Palace aswell.

Didn't we give him directions aswell

Aye, not sure where he was expecting it to go. Not like it found the top corner either.

He's generally been in good form though and any criticism of the goals yesterday is a bit picky.
I agree with you. For 18 months he’s been in great form but as a keeper he’s only as good as the defenders in front of him.
As a defensive group, the free kick was a mess. Whether that falls on Pickford for not organising, or on the training ground for not having someone lying down to allow the wall to jump?

Comms seemed to be a mess there, he's skipper and the goalkeeper is ultimately responsible for the wall so I'm inclined to say he needs to do better there. I'm not sure communication is a strong point, people tend to switch off from your voice if you shout randomly all day.

Are people looking at the same free kick I'm looking at?

His positioning is fine, that side is his side. If Gundogan went keepers side and it went in yous would all kick off and rightly so.

It's just a worldie from a brilliant player. No keepers saving that.

Actually. No keepers saving that unless they completely don't trust the wall and compromise the side of the goal they're meant to be protecting.

People just like to attack probably the greatest English goalkeeper in history after Banks.

It's en vogue.

The two Gundogan goals - if saved - would be absolutely ridiculous from a goalkeeper.
Can't look at either of those and think "the problem here is that the goalkeeper isn't performing miracles"

For a very long time this was very much Pickfords problem of getting beat keepers side on free kicks.

Positioning was ok he goes late and doesn’t get there good free kick, another step to his right starting off he might of got it then if it goes in the other corner he’d be blamed for that.
